A new national learning analytics service has been launched by Jisc. It is the world’s first national student learning analytics service. Its website has information on its aims in decreasing student drop out. It also includes a code of practice for ethical use of the data .
Jisc have also developed for students a free app from iTunes called study goals which aims to help students plan their time and studies effectively.
Related to this, Jisc has recently launched the 2018 Digital Student experience report. Findings were collected between October 2017 and April 2018 from 37,720 Further and Higher Education students studying at 83 different organisations across the nations of the UK.
The report provides a unique picture of how students are using technology in colleges and universities across the UK.
Only 41 % agreed that their course prepared them for the digital workplace. The full report covers the digital lives of students and the way tools are used in class. There are recommendations for future action.
