How do the EU and specific world nations present themselves globally?
Try consulting the Elcano Global Presence Index which is a tool for international relations specialists developed by the Fundación Real Instituto Elcano. It uses 3 dimensions:
- economic (exports and investments)
- military (troops deployed and the means for it)
- soft presence (science, technology, migration, tourism, culture, sports, information and development cooperation)
to provide a quantitative ranking and rating of the foreign global presence for over 100 nations and the EU as a whole. Years available are 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005 and 2011-2016 (to calculate the ending of the Cold war effect). A methodology is provided on the website.
