Just released by the World Justice Project. It examines and ranks adherence to the rule of law in 113 nations and jurisdictions worldwide. Evidence is gathered from surveys. 5 questionnaires covering 9 factors. Find out more about the variables and methodology used on the website.
Topics covered include: Constraints on Government Powers, Fundamental Rights, Order and Security, and Criminal Justice. Overall the study concluded that there had been a decline in fundamental human rights since the last report was published.
Also published this week by the Economist Intelligence Unit, the EIU Democracy index. This provides an overview of the state of democracy in 165 nations worldwide. Again look at the criteria used to judge its efficacy.
