South African Governmental Publications collection is now available on the LSE Digital Library.
It contains government and colonial publications. These are comprised of Population censuses undertaken in the Cape of Good Hope from 1865 until the 1960s. There are also Education Statistics of Cape of Good Hope 1881-1985.
The publications were digitised in 2016 as part of the South African Census Project headed by LSE’s Dr Joachim Wehner and Dr Daniel de Kadt. Together they have been using this material for their research into the evolution of voting rights and voter suppression in colonial South Africa.
