8 people own the same wealth as 50% of the world’s population

This week the latest annual meeting of the World Economic Forum took place at Davos. News and information is available on the official website

To mark the occasion Oxfam released its 99% of wealth report with up to date figures. 8 billionnaires have as much wealth as 50% of the world’s population.  Look on the left of the screen for the video on youtube which explains how the research reached these conclusions.

However these conclusions are disputed by free market think tanks Adam Smith Institute and the IEA
