And if so, what impact does it have on their lives and relationships? The NSPCC and the Children’s Commissioner asked Middlesex University to conduct a study.
The research consisted of an online survey of 1001 children and young people aged 11-16 across the UK, an online discussion forum and online focus groups. It includes qualitative and quantitative data. A key finding was that by the age of 15 65% were likely to have seen pornography online, and that repeated viewing could lead to being desensitised.
The NSPCC site also has other reports on children and online risks- see this example on sexting from 2012.
Netchildren Go mobile reports and EU Kids online examine the reality of risks online for children from different EU nations.
