Education Cluster (UNICEF / Save the Children)
A joint initiative from UNICEF and Save the children which aims to assist professionals working on subjects relating to the role and provision of education in emergencies and humanitarian crises. It is also very useful for researchers and students with an interest in the topic as it provides free guidance and access to useful news project reports and full text topics. A key theme is the coordination of project work amongst different agencies and the training of aid workers. There are good resources on humanitarian communication, project management guidelines, training manuals and impact assessment guides.
Another key site for general resources on education in emergencies is the Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies website. This has an extensive online resource database. It covers all aspects of education ranging from professional teacher development to education finance, peace education, childhood development issues in conflict zones, different age groups and gender related aspects. It includes bibliographies of readings, full text articles and project reports.
