This surveys the situation in each of the member states, allowing cross country comparisons. It includes coverage of the anti-corruption measures and policies in place and the economic costs of corruption in the region. There are links to Eurobarometer public opinion polls on perceptions of the extent of corruption. Topics covered by these include the extent to which people doing business believe nepotism is widespread.
Other useful sources on government corruption include:
- The World Bank Worldwide Governance Indicators (WGI) project database which reports on governance indicators for 215 economies over the period 1996–2012, covering six areas of governance: accountability, political stability, government effectiveness, regulatory quality, rule of law and control of corruption.
- Transparency International Corruption Perceptions index. Scores countries on levels of corruption.
- Transparency International also produce the Global Corruption Barometer 2013 which focuses upon citizens’ perceptions of the extent of corruption in their nation.
