Developed by the WHO Demographic Change and Healthy Ageing Unit, the MOVE simulator allows a user to estimate the value of changes in health status for an individual or a population based on data from harmonized European time use surveys (HETUS).
The main idea behind this is is that time is money. Healthy people spend more of their time being active and productive, contributing to their households and to society even if they are not in paid formal work. Whether it is through caregiving, volunteering, housework, shopping, or other activities, older people who are healthy can spend more time doing things that have inherent monetary value.
The MOVE simulator estimates the value of health at older ages based on how people spend their time if they are in good health. More explanation at: https://eurohealthobservatory.who.int/themes/observatory-programmes/health-and-economy/simulating-the-monetary-value-of-health-at-older-ages
