25 years since the Beijing conference, aid specifically for women and girls is rising, according to latest data from the OECD
It analysed OECD and DAC data invested by bilateral donors through the Creditor reporting system, spotlighting gender equality and women’s empowerment. It found that in 2017-2018 DAC members targeted an average of USD 49.3 billion per year, corresponding to 42% of their bilateral allocable aid, towards gender equality and women’s equality as either a significant (secondary) or principal (primary) objective. This is higher than ever before. However for most nations it is still less than 50%.
