4.5 million people are more than 50% below the poverty line, and 7 million people are living in persistent poverty in the UK.

The Education Policy Institute has revealed that attainment gaps widely differed between different socio-economic groups.  They also produced a geographical map of disadvantage which you can consult to see how your area compares.
