In London Fashion Week we consider how much fashion contributes to the economy. Here are some useful starting points:
- The British Fashion Council commissioned from Oxford Economics. some data which included – the figure that the fashion industry directly contributed £32.3billion to the UK GDP in 2017
- The Creative Industries website has some data from UK government reports on the sector which cover the economics, exports and employment
- Other sources include the Mayor of London website which has data on creative industries in London in 2017
- The Office for National Statistics has some recent data on the number of SMEs in the fashion industry sector. It also has the count, employment and turnover of VAT and/or PAYE based enterprises in Parliamentary constituencies for UK SIC classes defining the Fashion Industry. Data as at March 2016
