KvinnSam – National resource library for gender studies – at Gothenburg University Library
A great resource on women’s equality which is worth revisiting. A key focus are Nordic nations but there is also substantial coverage of other regions. Originally founded as a private intiative in the 1950s, it became a national Swedish library in 1997. The website has some extensive resources which are free to access, for example:
- the KVINNSAM database of references to books, articles and reports in humanities and social sciences taken from the Göteborg University Library collections covers the 1970s onwards.
- The database GENA (GENusAvhandlingar) lists PhD theses in Women’s Studies, Men’s Studies and Gender Research in Sweden, from 1960 onwards. More recent items accessible in full text.
- Greda: Gender Researchers Database
- JÄMDA is a database on gender equality. The database gives advice on literature about gender mainstreaming and also about gender equality. It contains references or links to government commissions, doctoral dissertations, reports, legislation and manuals, some in English.
