A recent new project supported by Propublica, US media and human rights organisations including University of Miami School of Communication, CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, Human Rights Center, UC Berkeley School of Law, Texas State University School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
It is building up an accurate, verifiable database of reports of specific hate crimes that have occurred in the USA as well as data compiled by law enforcement, community groups, local jurisdictions, news reports, search trends, social media and other non-profit organisations.
