Also this week first global study on women characters in the international film industry – launched by the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, UN Women and the Rockefeller Foundation -shows clear gender imbalance.
The study covers film characters and the way in which they are portrayed and as well as the gender balance in film industry personnel.
Shocking statistics show that currently only 31% of speaking roles are female and only 21% of film makers are female. The full text can be downloaded.
