New World Bank educational data website: Systems Approach for Better Education Results or SABER
…collects data on education systems worldwide using evidence based frameworks. Policy topics covered include child development, student assessment, teachers, school finance and inclusion. As countries choose to participate it does not include every nation. This supplements the wider World Bank Edustats website
Other useful sources of educational statistics include:
- UNESCO which maintains a specialist International Bureau of Education (IBE). The website provides some access to World Data on Education which contains profiles of the education systems and curriculums of over 160 countries worldwide.
- The OECD produces a number of key statistical series relating to Education. The annual Education at a Glance contains statistical indicators on all aspects of educational systems in OECD nations. See the 2013 report http://www.oecd.org/edu/eag.htm as an example.
- Another key initiative is the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) which compares student school attainments in different countries. Some rankings and reports can be downloaded from the website.
