The Social Mobility and Child Poverty (SMCP) Commission releases major report. This body aims to monitors the progress of government and others in improving social mobility and reducing child poverty in the United Kingdom. Its official website has press releases and papers.

Also this week a new paper from the University of Oxford Department of Social
Policy and Social Intervention – The Effects of Social Origins and Cognitive Ability on Educational Attainment: Evidence from Britain and Sweden by Erzsébet Bukodi,Robert Erikson and John H. Goldthorpe. Shows the effect of socio-economic background on educational success.
