Carl Icahn (@Carl_C_Icahn) used Twitter to announce he had amassed a “large” position in Apple yesterday (14th Aug). Bloomberg’s Social Velocity alerted clients to a surge in Twitter postings about Apple minutes after Icahn’s tweet, giving investors the opportunity to profit from the gain. As there are increasingly more academic researches on the correlation between news and market move, it’s interesting to see the movement in action.
