Party like it’s 1929 – Photographs!

Firstly I must apologise for it taking a whole week to get this post up! It has been very busy at Waugh towers over the past few days.

The Evelyn Waugh themed cocktail party was an event held in association with the Leicester Everybody’s Reading festival, the University of Leicester, and of course, the very fabulous Evelyn Waugh book group! Many thanks to the book group for the readings they gave on the night – we had some very funny extracts from Scoop, Vile Bodies, Work Suspended, The Loved One and Brideshead Revisited and I really hope those of you who attended the party and hadn’t read Waugh before will now be inclined to do so! Congratulations to Harriet for winning the quiz – we’d love to know what you will spend your book voucher on!

Thank you so much to everyone who helped set up this event and to those of you who sent your photos along! They may have passed through a 1920s filter at some point along the way … (!) Photographs are below, you can click to enlarge.

I must also thank everyone who filled in a feedback form – there are some great ideas on them and we do hope to host another themed evening at some point.

I haven’t spent it yet, waiting to see what Waugh books we choose after the trilogy! Thanks for a great party.
