With the decommissioning of the well-used paper scanner the Department of Economics approached the College’s Learning Technology Assistants to help them develop and deliver an online electronic alternative of the Module Evaluation Surveys.
Using Blackboard’s in-built survey tool the questionnaire was quickly built and deployed for students to access and complete, on several key modules throughout the departments portfolio of programmes. Using Blackboard for the survey tool offered the added benefit of increasing staff and student perception of Blackboard and the variety of tools available for teaching and learning activities.
In addition to the survey being deployed for student feedback on the whole module, each student was assigned to a user ‘group’ associated with their tutorial group and asked to provide anonymous feedback on elements of the individual tutor.
Versha Rama, Data Analysis Intern for the Department of Economics was also kind enough to spend a few minutes talking to us about the Department’s experiences of the pilot study, about their findings and proposed development of the Module Evaluation Survey.
