EGU Medal for Professor Emma Bunce

Enormous congratulations to Professor Emma Bunce for being awarded the David Bates Medal of the European Geophysical Union (EGU).

The European Geosciences Union (EGU) has named the 50 recipients of next year’s Union Medals and Awards, Division Medals, and Division Outstanding Early Career Scientist Awards. These individuals are honoured for their important contributions to the Earth, planetary and space sciences. They will be celebrated during the EGU General Assembly 2022, which will be held from 3–8 April.

The Bates medal has been exclusively designed for the EGU by József Kótai.

The Bates medal was established by the Planetary & Solar System Sciences Division in recognition of the scientific and editorial achievements of Sir David Robert Bates, FRS. It is awarded to scientists for their exceptional contributions to planetary and solar system sciences.

We would also like to extend our congratulations to Dr. Greg Hunt, formerly of the Planetary Science Group, who was awarded the Planetary and Solar System Sciences Division Outstanding Early Career Scientist Award.
