Charles Cockell on Astrobiology: National Space Centre Q&A

Join the National Space Centre on Friday 13 November at 19:00 for a special #SciFRI, as Charles Cockell, Professor of Astrobiology at the University of Edinburgh takes part in a live Q&A session.

Professor Cockell studies life in extreme environments, the habitability of extra-terrestrial environments, and space biology. He currently sits on the science advisory committee of NASA’s Center for the Utilization of Biological Engineering in Space (CUBES). He was Principal Investigator of BioRock, an ESA experiment that flew to the International Space Station in 2019 and demonstrated for the first time mining of elements in space using microbes. He is Chair of the Earth and Space Foundation, a small foundation he founded in 1994 that gives out grants to field research that links environmentalism and space exploration and has funded over 60 projects since it was established.

Who is this session suitable for?
Anybody and everybody with an interest in the past, present and future of space exploration. The National Space Centre is an educational charity and last year we hosted over 80,000 school visits, so everything we do is created to inspire and educate.
