How weird, Rebecca – I am currently in the British Library (not as beautiful as the Bod but very dear to me nonetheless) trawling through the Isis and Cherwell issues for 1923, trying to track down a mysterious reference to Waugh’s friend John Sutro getting horribly drunk in his maiden speech at the union and vomiting on the way home, having been asked – discreetly, by note – to sit down and after applauding himself with gusto (there is more about this in A Little Learning).

Nothing as yet. Glad your trip was more productive!
