Sarah Hodgkinson recently set up the Extremes of Human Cruelty Research Network to draw together people working in different disciplines but with a common interest in human cruelty and evil, from violence and murder, to torture and genocide. Her own interest is in the our fascination with evil and atrocities, the role of death in popular culture, and the psychology of genocide. She is currently undertaking research into Holocaust Tourism and the psychological, moral and political issues this raises. This blog forms part of that research and focuses on her journeys to Holocaust memorial sites and concentration camps in Europe.
