The Library is now home to a SafePod: a local, safe environment where researchers can access sensitive datasets. Registered researchers can now use specialist data from the UK Data Service, SAIL Databank, Office for National Statistics, the Scottish Government and Health and Social Care Northern Ireland in a secure setting on-campus. The SafePod is part of a national network funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).
The pod is a small room where researchers can view and analyse datasets via a monitor. It has a height adjustable desk and a secure locker. Access to the pod is controlled and the room is monitored by CCTV. Our pod is located on the ground floor of the David Wilson Library and is open for use Monday to Friday 10.00am to 4.00pm. SafePod access is available to all legitimate researchers (including PhD students) and to non-University of Leicester users. To find out more, and to register as a user, please visit our SafePod page.
