Monday 13th August Sol 7

One of the things that Curiosity carries is 1.2 million names from 246 countries together with student essays and letters from  the jpl engineers who constructed Curiosity.  I think that shows the level of international interest in this mission and space exploration in general.    These have all been miniaturized and printed onto 2 chips.  In addition to this, images from Leonardo da Vinci, such as his codex on bird flight and self portrait are included.  Some of these have been printed and put up on the walls near our workplace at JPL.  The similarities between his ‘tank’ and the aeroshell of Curiosity give a nice juxtaposition and talking point.
