Welcome

Welcome to the University of Leicester Environment Team’s blog.

The Environment Team manages the University’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy which commits us to reducing our carbon footprint by 60% by 2020, but we also do a whole lot more from biodiversity to student volunteering.

We have had a news page for some time that has kept you up to date with all sustainability-related goings-on in the University and we tweet daily to keep you abreast of wider sustainability issues so we intend this blog to be a middle ground.

So what’s new with us?

These infographics give a flavour what we’ve been up to over the past two years.

This year is an exciting one for us as the Environmental Sustainability Strategy is due for an update in 2015 so we need to spend the next year listening, planning and researching so that the next one will really make a difference at Leicester and get us to that 60% target. We are also designing a new staff engagement scheme to replace Green Impact that will empower you to run your own projects and make the changes that matter most to your department instead of ticking boxes.

SUS IT OUT is the provisional name for the engagement side of our work – what do you think of it?

To whet your appetites for getting more involved, we have put together a programme of events and workshops for our Environmental Coordinators to attend throughout the year. We can’t promise homemade cake at each of them but we will do our best!
