The Working Lives Committee aims to improve the working environment, culture and work/life balance of all members of the department and has representation from all key staff groups within the department. We are working hard to identify and address areas where the department could do better and to respond to specific matters raised by individuals through our feedback and comments section. This can be done either personally or anonymously and we value your feedback. You have the power to contribute to positive change.
Some examples of questions we’ve addressed so far can be found on our You Asked, We Did section.
A very much needed refurbishment to the seminar/coffee room at RKCSB was also possible thanks to your Working Lives Committee. Three key needs for improvement were identified (heating for Café Cardiologique at GGH, outside benches for communal areas at GGH and RKCSB seminar/coffee room refurbishment) and members of the department had their say by voting online at the Working Lives Committee webpage. The room is now heavily used for lunch, small celebrations (members of staff leaving or being promoted, for example), as well as scientific discussions, meetings, presentations and, hopefully soon, teleconference between CVS sites.
Had you heard about the Working Lives Committee before? Had you visited our webpage? Do you have any suggestions on how we can continue to improve your working life? Please leave your comments below.
