{"id":1762,"date":"2014-03-05T09:00:48","date_gmt":"2014-03-05T09:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staffblogs.le.ac.uk\/telsocsci\/?p=1762"},"modified":"2025-02-26T13:16:22","modified_gmt":"2025-02-26T13:16:22","slug":"bob-an-invitation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staffblogs.le.ac.uk\/telsocsci\/box-of-broadcasts\/bob-an-invitation\/","title":{"rendered":"BoB: An invitation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have had confirmation from LTAG (Learning and Teaching Advisory Group) that the University of Leicester has secured a pilot version of <a href=\"http:\/\/bobnational.net\/\">Box of Broadcasts<\/a>\u00a0for initial testing.<\/p>\n<p>For those who are not aware &#8230; Box of Broadcasts, or BoB as it&#8217;s known, is labelled as &#8220;enriching teaching and learning with moving image and sound&#8221;. In simple terms it&#8217;s access to a growing archive of off-air television programmes, which you can use as part of your teaching practice.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1766\" alt=\"Box of Broadcasts \/ BoB\" src=\"https:\/\/staffblogs.le.ac.uk\/telsocsci\/files\/2014\/03\/bobnational.png\" width=\"476\" height=\"366\" srcset=\"https:\/\/staffblogs.le.ac.uk\/telsocsci\/files\/2014\/03\/bobnational.png 476w, https:\/\/staffblogs.le.ac.uk\/telsocsci\/files\/2014\/03\/bobnational-300x230.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 476px) 100vw, 476px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>BoB allows you to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Access programmes broadcast over the previous 30 days from 60+ TV and radio channels on &#8216;freeview&#8217; services, including some foreign language channels.<\/li>\n<li>Schedule recordings up to seven days in advance using an Electronic Programme Guide.<\/li>\n<li>Search the database for content that other users have recorded.<\/li>\n<li>Request programmes from the BBC Archive dating back to June 2007.<\/li>\n<li>Create clips from programmes for short, targeted learning.<\/li>\n<li>Manage off-air recordings in your own playlists, which can be shared with others.<\/li>\n<li>Access the website and recordings both on and off campus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The pilot version will be available from<strong> Monday 10<sup>th<\/sup> March<\/strong> for <strong>two weeks<\/strong>, but is limited to 20 places.
