Also highlights local emergency twitter feeds. Separate maps for the whole of the USA and NYC are available. They include geographical markers for different types of emergencies.<\/p>\n<p>Location tracking, including the current and forecasted paths were provided on the NOAA-National <a href=\"http:\/\/www.weather.gov\/\">Hurricane Center national weather service<\/a>.\u00a0 Search the website for past forecasts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fema.gov\/sandy\">FEMA<\/a> has links to US government crisis reponse social media. There is also a separate<a href=\"http:\/\/fema.maps.arcgis.com\/home\/\"> geoportal<\/a> with satellite maps.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.storyful.com\/2012\/10\/30\/a-moving-target-how-video-of-sandy-tells-its-own-story\/\">Storyful <\/a>is a news platform developed by and for journalsist which focuses on how immediate social media can be used to develop news stories. It has coverage of images of Sandy with links to playlists charting its progress.<\/p>\n<p>Finally agencies such as the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redcross.org\/find-help\/shelter\">Red Cross<\/a> used mappings for individuals to locate safe shelters.and developed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redcross.org\/mobile-apps\/hurricane-app\">Apps<\/a> for those involved to contact relatives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Crisis Response maps from Google: http:\/\/google.org\/crisismap\/2012-sandy\u00a0marks disaster areas.
