Universal Children’s day\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

20th<\/sup> November was also universal children\u2019s day.
\nUnited Nations Universal Children\u2019s Day was established in 1954 and is celebrated on November 20th each year to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children’s welfare.<\/p>\n

Yet recently the Children’s society reported that 25% of children in the UK are unhappy<\/u><\/p>\n

The annual report on childhood<\/a>\u00a0is based on a large-scale survey multi-dimensional index of items which measure subjective well-being. These include health, education, social relations and living conditions.\u00a0 They are also cross matched with gender and socioeconomic position.\u00a0 Past indexes are also available on the website for a longer term comparison of trends.<\/p>\n

For further insight into the lives of children in England today consult the website of the\u00a0Children’s Commissioner<\/a>.\u00a0 The latest bulletin spotlights what they worry about.<\/p>\n

Another good source for researchers and students to keep up to date with the latest research publications is the NSPCC website.\u00a0They have a specialist library<\/a>\u00a0and it is possible to sign up to alerting bulletins.\u00a0 These include the\u00a0CASPAR current awareness alerting\u00a0<\/a>bulletin.

\nThe Social Care online database\u00a0<\/a>maintained by SCIE is also good for literature searching.\u00a0 It indexes journal articles, reports and grey literature on all aspects of social work and social care.<\/p>\n
