It\u00a0notes\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0In 2017\/18 there were 268\u00a0murders\u00a0using a sharp instrument, including knives and broken bottles, accounting for 33% of all homicides \u2013 an increase from the 216 recorded in 2016\/17.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/digital.nhs.uk\/data-and-information\/publications\/statistical\/hospital-admitted-patient-care-activity\/2017-18\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The NHS records hospital admissons for\u00a0<\/a>particular types of causes including injuries.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.london.gov.uk\/what-we-do\/mayors-office-policing-and-crime-mopac\/our-priorities\/tackling-serious-violent-crime\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Knife crime is a major concern in London the GLA Mayor website<\/a>\u00a0has\u00a0some resources, including a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.london.gov.uk\/mopac-publications\/mayors-knife-crime-strategy-putting-stop-knife-crime-london\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">recently-published knife strategy<\/a><\/li>\n<li>The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.crimeandjustice.org.uk\/publications\/young-people-knives-and-guns\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0Centre for Crime and Justice studies<\/a>\u00a0has some reports on policing, crime and young people.\u00a0 The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.crimeandjustice.org.uk\/publications\/knife-crime-review-evidence-and-policy-2nd-edition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">y include reviews of policing<\/a>.\u00a0 The latest report was<a href=\"https:\/\/www.crimeandjustice.org.uk\/publications\/young-people-violence-and-knives-revisiting-evidence-and-policy-discussions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0\u00a0published in November<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recently the papers have published lots of\u00a0stories\u00a0on rising levels of knife crime.\u00a0 A House of Commons Briefing\u00a0from the 9th November gives recent statistics comparing with\u00a0the last few\u00a0years and considering the methods of recording the data.
