They quote statistics that 8 in 10 adults in the UK use catch-up technology to watch more than one episode of a programme. 70% find this relaxing but 32% say they slept less!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">The report also has data on use of different devices to watch media and attitudes, extent and nature of TV viewing and Internet use.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Binge watching box sets is a growing phenomenon <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.collinsdictionary.com\/word-lovers-blog\/new\/binge-watch-collins-word-of-the-year-2015,251,HCB.html\">in 2015 Collins Dictionary voted it word of the year.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 12pt\"><a href=\"https:\/\/yougov.co.uk\/news\/2017\/01\/04\/box-set-binges-nearly-third-brits-are-happy-watch-\/\">YouGov<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000\"> has some surveys about attitudes to binge watching. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Netflix produces some data on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/media.netflix.com\/en\/press-releases\/four-years-after-house-of-cards-netflix-members-elect-their-owntv-schedule\">how its members do this.<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000\"> and the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/media.netflix.com\/en\/press-releases\/netflix-binge-new-binge-scale-reveals-tv-series-we-devour-and-those-we-savor-1\">most popular box sets <\/a><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0if you consult the website but do remember to check its methodology.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 12pt\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/tus\/#tables\">American Time US survey<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000\"> 2016 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/atus.nr0.htm\">recorded average of 2.6 hours watching TV<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif;font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">You can search <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/\">Pubmed<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000\"> for any recent references to medical studies about the impact and nature of TV viewing.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Are we a nation of binge viewers?\u00a0 Yes according to the latest annual Communication Markets report released by Ofcom this week.
