{"id":2138,"date":"2015-08-28T11:06:21","date_gmt":"2015-08-28T11:06:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staffblogs.le.ac.uk\/socscilibrarians\/?p=2138"},"modified":"2024-11-26T17:50:05","modified_gmt":"2024-11-26T17:50:05","slug":"lgbt-history-digital-collaboratory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staffblogs.le.ac.uk\/socscilibrarians\/2015\/08\/28\/lgbt-history-digital-collaboratory\/","title":{"rendered":"LGBT History Digital Collaboratory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lgbtqdigitalcollaboratory.org\/oral-history-hub\/\">Exciting project <\/a>based at the University of Toronto, in collaboration with the Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives (CLGA), the Digital Transgender Archive (DTA), the Transgender Archives and the Archives of Lesbian Oral Testimony (ALOT).\u00a0 It is seeking to build a network for LGBT oral history digital archives online across North America.\u00a0 It is supported by a five-year research grant from the Social Science &amp; Humanities Research Council of Canada (2014-19).<br \/>\nThe website has an excellent and growing oral history hub with recorded life experience histories.\u00a0 It is also developing resources on digitisation and has links to many partner projects. These are useful for scholars of LGBT social, political, history and the struggle for equal rights.<\/p>\n<p>Other source of information:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.powdthavee.co.uk\/resources\/R$26R+PowdWooden+JEBO+FINAL+June2015.pdf\">Life satisfaction and sexual minorities: Evidence from Australia and the United Kingdom<\/a>, a forthcoming paper from the\u00a0 Journal of Economic Behaviour and Organization by <a href=\"http:\/\/cep.lse.ac.uk\/_new\/staff\/person.asp?id=8058\">Professor Nick Powdthavee<\/a> (LSE) and <a href=\"http:\/\/melbourneinstitute.com\/staff\/mwooden\/\">Professor Mark Wooden<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.unimelb.edu.au\/\">University of Melbourne<\/a>) found that in general the LGBT community has lower satisfaction with life than heterosexuals.
