{"id":169,"date":"2016-04-07T15:12:26","date_gmt":"2016-04-07T15:12:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staffblogs.le.ac.uk\/researcharchiving\/?p=169"},"modified":"2025-02-26T13:18:20","modified_gmt":"2025-02-26T13:18:20","slug":"dmp-rubrics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staffblogs.le.ac.uk\/researcharchiving\/2016\/04\/07\/dmp-rubrics\/","title":{"rendered":"DMP Rubrics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m starting to work more with Data Management Plans (DMPs) which are required by some funders and might well be a good idea for most researchers anyway.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re looking at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dmponline.dcc.ac.uk\/\">DMPonline<\/a> by the <a href=\"http:\/\/dcc.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Digital Curation Centre<\/a>\u00a0for creating them and what local customisations we want to make.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m also starting to look at DMP Rubrics and the DART project&#8217;s\u00a0D<a href=\"http:\/\/dmpresearch.library.oregonstate.edu\/\">ata Management Plans as A Research Tool<\/a>\u00a0at <a href=\"http:\/\/oregonstate.edu\/\">Oregon State University<\/a>\u00a0which I hope to continue discussing at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dcc.ac.uk\/events\/research-data-management-forum-rdmf\/rdmf15-the-compliance-of-science\">RDMF15: The Compliance of Science? Data Policies, Expectations and Concordat<\/a>\u00a0in London on 27th April 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The basic idea as far as I grasp it is a checklist or procedure for evaluating DMPs.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m starting to think of various reasons to have a DMP and to evaluate it:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To get funding &#8211; making an application\n<ul>\n<li>Good enough to pass<\/li>\n<li>Have a competitive advantage over others<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>To improve research practice<\/li>\n<li>To check what promises are being made and who is responsible for them<\/li>\n<li>To plan future for research data repository needs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I see the promise checking almost as colouring in a plan with who will be doing what and spotting any blank bits.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m starting to work more with Data Management Plans (DMPs) which are required by some funders and might well be a good idea for most researchers anyway.
