{"id":1627,"date":"2022-12-16T14:32:55","date_gmt":"2022-12-16T14:32:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staffblogs.le.ac.uk\/physicsastronomy\/?p=1627"},"modified":"2025-02-26T13:37:26","modified_gmt":"2025-02-26T13:37:26","slug":"stargazing-nights-at-oadby-observatory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staffblogs.le.ac.uk\/physicsastronomy\/2022\/12\/16\/stargazing-nights-at-oadby-observatory\/","title":{"rendered":"Stargazing nights at Oadby Observatory"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p id=\"paragraph_xS9DR7qOaV0\"><strong><em>The School of Physics and Astronomy would like to invite staff and their families to a stargazing night at the Oadby Observatory on Manor Road.<\/em><\/strong><br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"paragraph_8M9DR7aOaV0\">The Oadby Observatory has a state of the art 20\u201d Planewave CDK20 Telescope and is one of the UK&#8217;s largest and most advanced astronomical teaching facilities. The session will be led by Dr Paul Abel who previously co-presented BBC\u2019s \u2018The Sky at Night\u2019 programme, and will give visitors the chance to see stars and planets.<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"448\" height=\"336\" src=\"https:\/\/staffblogs.le.ac.uk\/physicsastronomy\/files\/2022\/12\/image.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1628\" srcset=\"https:\/\/staffblogs.le.ac.uk\/physicsastronomy\/files\/2022\/12\/image.png 448w, https:\/\/staffblogs.le.ac.uk\/physicsastronomy\/files\/2022\/12\/image-300x225.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p id=\"paragraph_LF9DR7KOaV0\">Because of the size of the observatory, numbers are constrained to 25 people per night and bookings operate on a first come first serve basis.
