The project was funded by a <a href=\"https:\/\/le.ac.uk\/giving\/legacy-gifts\/neaversonlegacy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">generous legacy gift from Janet Neaverson<\/a>.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-385f5d44976204898d4a88e38e32a7ea\">The project aims to:\u200b\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>Identify and transfer relevant digital records to the University Archives.\u200b\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>Appraise and catalogue the material, making catalogue records available through <a href=\"https:\/\/archives.le.ac.uk\/CalmView\/Default.aspx?\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">our online catalogue<\/a>.\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>Ingest material into digital preservation software, <em>Arkivum<\/em>.\u200b\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>Develop a sensitivity review process and give access to sensitivity checked \/ rights cleared records.\u200b\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>Outreach work using the archives.\u200b\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>Staff training in digital archiving and preservation.\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">So far, we have received 15 different accessions into the Archives, including two accessions of physical records and around 4.5 TB of digital content. The collections transferred include:\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>Project files from members of the Greyfriars Team\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>Emails from key stakeholder\u200bs\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>Outreach materials\u200b\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>Video and photographs\u200b\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>External news coverage\u200b\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>Marketing material\u200b\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>Legal documents\u200b\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>Podcasts\u200b\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>Webpages\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">We have published one collection so far on <a href=\"https:\/\/archives.le.ac.uk\/CalmView\/Record.aspx?src=CalmView.Catalog&amp;id=00311\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">our online catalogue<\/a>, but are currently cataloguing two more of the collections which should be available in the next few months.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">A small selection of items can be viewed online as part of our <a href=\"https:\/\/leicester.omeka.net\/exhibits\/show\/digitalpreservationatleicester\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">online exhibition<\/a> on Digital Preservation at the University.&nbsp; This exhibition also talks in more detail about processes involved including the appraisal of, cataloguing and giving access to the material.&nbsp; We hope to give access to more records before the project ends in November 2025 via <a href=\"https:\/\/specialcollections.le.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Special Collections Online<\/a>.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In November 2023 I began a two-year project to bring together the digital records generated by the University relating to the discovery and identification of King Richard III, 2012-2015.\u202f The project aims to collect these records from across the institution and ensure their long-term preservation as part of the University Archive.
