The seven remaining contestants had to prepare \u2018flaounes\u2019 from scratch for this week\u2019s technical challenge, using Paul Hollywood\u2019s recipe.<\/p>\n<p>Paul, a flaounes enthusiast, picked up the recipe while living and working as a pastry chef in Cyprus. Mastichi reminded Nadiya (last week\u2019s star baker) of an industrial detergent!<\/p>\n<p>As the contestants have never seen flaounes before, and were given very little instructions on how to shape them, they\u00a0were not able to fully emulate the fully risen, golden brown \u2018authentic\u2019 flaounes. According to Paul, only the best one \u2018could just about pass for a real flaouna\u2019.
